More and more people are embracing the watch as a daily companion, and that trend is only set to continue.
According to data from IDC, the total number of people who own a pocketwatch rose to 2.8 million in 2016, up from 1.7 million in 2015.
In 2016, the watch was also seen by more than a quarter of the population.
But while the Watch has always been a must-have item for people who have an iPhone, Android or a tablet, IDC says the watch is also seeing a surge in the hands of millennials.
According in the data, the average age of the watch owner was 38.8, up five years from 2015.
IDC expects this growth to continue, and it predicts that the Watch will outnumber the overall population of watches by 2028.
The Watch Series 3 is now available in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
The watch is currently available at Walmart and Best Buy, and will soon be available at Amazon and more retailers.
